The article: "Project EuDML - A first year demonstration" by J. Borbinha, Th. Bouche, A. Nowiñski and P. Sojka has been published in the book " Intelligent Computer Mathematics". It describes the results of the first year of the EuDML project, an initiative building a new multilingual service for searching and browsing the content of existing European portals of mathematical content. They demonstrate the first versions and proofs of concept of the EuDML portal, its content aggregator and toolset for added value.
The book contains the Proceedings of the "Calculemus" and "Mathematics Knowledge Management" conferences held in Bertinoro, Italy, in July 2011, and is part of the series "Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence" edited by Springer.
EuDML achievements and score at half time will be presented at Jahrestagung der Deutschen Mathematiker-Vereinigung, Minisymposium "Fragen der Information und Kommunikation in der Mathematik", the event will be held in Cologne (Germany), between the 21st and the 22nd of September.
Michael Jost (member of the EuDML partner: Fachinformationszentrum Karlsruhe) will talk about "Was macht die Digitale Mathematische
Bibliothek - Halbzeit im EuDML-Projekt".
After the public presentation of EuDML, at the CICM'11 Systems and Projects track, EuDML early version is available for public by Demo: EuDML beta.
The Committee for Electronic Publications of the RSME (the Royal Spanish Mathematical Society) has organized a Special Session on the Future of Mathematical Literature as part of the Centennial Congress of the RSME held in Ávila, February 1 to 5, 2011 .
Thierry Bouche, the Scientific Coordinator of EuDML, was invited to give a presentation of EuDML. Thierry Bouche (UJF/CMD), Bernd Wegner (FIZ) and Enrique Macias (USC), all three, partners of EuDML, along with José Luis Fernández (Chief Editor of the Revista Hispanoamericana de Matemáticas) and Frans Lettenström (Director of Library Sales for Southern Europe, Northern Africa & Russia from Springer ) have participated in a Special Panel on the future of the Mathematical Literature.
The Open Access Week is a global event, now in its 4th year, promoting the open access as a new norm in scholarship and research. This year’s Open Access Week will highlight the collaboration behind the open access and a broad range of initiatives around the globe. The anticipated participation of hundreds of uni-versities, research institutions, and other sites worldwide would demonstrate the depth and the breadth of support for the open access and the real impact of un-fettered access on advancing discovery across disciplines.
In this workshop, the EuDML partners will join together with leading technology providers in constructing the Europe wide interconnections between their collections, to create a document network as integrated and trans-national as the discipline of mathematics itself.
They will future-proof their work by providing the organisational and technical infrastructure to accomodate new collections and mathematically rich metadata formats, thereby retaining Europe´s leadership in the provision, acessibility and exploitation of electronic mathematical content.
The last few places are available at Europeana´s Open Culture 2010 conference: booking will close shortly as we are nearing our 350 capacity.
The keynote speakers are Liam Wyatt, the British Museum´s first Wikipedian in Residence, who will give a keynote on Peace, Love & Metadata: a cultural collaboration with Wikipedia, and James Crawford, Engineering Director for Google Books, who will talk about the present and future of the project.
Between October 13th and 16th, 2010, will be held in Prague, Czech Republic, the internal technical meeting. On July 15th will take place the workshop with content providers. This event will be hosted at the Institute of Mathematics of the Academy of Sciencies of the Czech Republic.
